POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Controller analyzes, classifies, and reviews both routine and complex accounting transactions and identifies solutions in accordance with GAAP; interprets accounting results and advises management with respect to those results; interacts regularly with cross-functional teams.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees accounting for multiple aspects of the business, including revenue/deferred revenue, inventory, prepaids, accounts payable and payroll, among other areas.
  • Prepares, reviews, and records a variety of routine and complex accounting transactions, journal entries, and reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • Oversees the account reconciliation process, including preparing and reviewing various recs.
  • Manages processes associated with sales/use tax.
  • Supervises, mentors, and leads a team of domestic and remote Accountants.
  • Identifies accounting problems, researches solutions and identifies options for resolution.
  • Assists with developing or modifying accounting policies and ensure systems and procedures follow company policies, acceptable accounting practices and applicable regulations.
  • Assists the Corporate Controller, as required, with preparing various financial schedules in an accurate and timely manner, including working capital schedules, daily and weekly cash flow projections, balance sheets and monthly financial statements.
  • Plans, directs, and coordinates accounting staff toward attainment of goals and objectives:
    • Develops staff by providing guidance regarding accounting methods and processes, identifying developmental and growth opportunities for staff members, and ensuring appropriate training is provided to staff.
    • Provides coaching, communication, feedback and completes formal performance appraisals for each assigned staff member.
    • Develops and maintains an environment that is optimal for employee productivity, employee engagement and job satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement and positive change, including the ability to affect change within the company.
  • Identifies and actively responds with sensitivity to the needs of all internal customers.

REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • CPA preferred (active or inactive)
  • Minimum seven years of accounting experience (10+ years preferred)
  • Minimum three years of supervisory experience
Skills
  • Significant experience with NetSuite
  • Solid history with detailed account reconciliations, both preparing and reviewing
  • Experience and proficiency in applying GAAP accounting principles/theories and concepts
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask with efficiency and accuracy
  • Ability to effectively work with all levels of the organization, and with external resources
  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Sit Frequently at a desk
  • Frequent fine hand and finger movements (keyboard, writing, mouse movement)
  • Continual close visual acuity for reading
  • Hearing and Speaking for communication within and outside of company.
  • May be required to lift/push/pull up to 10 pounds for set up/movement of office equipment,
