Assistant Curator-Wildlife Education Center

Position Summary:

PRWC, Inc. is seeking a reliable and organized Assistant Curator to support daily animal care operations and facility management. This position ensures the safe and effective care of our resident wildlife, supports volunteers, and helps maintain a clean and well-operated facility. The Assistant Curator must be able to work independently and ensure a staff member is always present on-site during operational hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Open and prepare the resident care office and facility for daily operations.

• Ensure habitats are unlocked, set up, and ready for animal care activities.

• Support and guide volunteers in daily care tasks and procedures.

• Assist with feeding, habitat maintenance, and general animal care.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of workspaces and animal areas.

• Monitor facility conditions including caging, temperature, and safety.

• Ensure compliance with organizational procedures and animal care standards.

• Remain on-site while on duty to ensure continuous staff coverage.

Qualifications

• Experience working with wildlife, animals, or in a zoological or rehabilitation setting preferred.

• Ability to work independently and responsibly in a dynamic environment.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Comfortable working outdoors and performing physical tasks in all weathers.

• Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers.

• Continuation of education for themselves in all aspects of the job.

Work Environment This position involves hands-on work with animals including birds, reptiles and mammals and requires physical activity including lifting, cleaning, and working in outdoor environments.
