About this job
- Hours are part-time, with additional work available during busy summer months and holidays.
- Our employees make multiple trips per day to client homes within our service area. If you live more than 10-15 minutes from the 29307 zip code, this may not be a good fit—especially if you’d be driving out for just one or two visits.
- Workdays vary but typically include 1–2 shifts per day.
- An average shift includes 2–6 visits (approximately 1–4 hours total), though there are occasionally single-visit shifts.
- The schedule is somewhat like gig work, but there are plenty of hours available for the right, dedicated person!
Responsibilities
- Walk dogs, including x-large dogs & strong pullers
- Feed and administer medications to dogs & cats
- Clean up after pets (including diarrhea, vomit, etc)
- Provide playtime & love to all pets
- Communicate politely & clearly with clients
- Perform basic house sitting tasks (sweeping, watering plants, taking out trash, etc)
Experience
- Prior professional animal-care experience is preferred (pet sitting for a larger company, veterinary, boarding, shelter, etc.)
- Comfortable with dogs of all sizes and temperaments (some clients’ pets may show reactivity or resource guarding)
- Patience with shy cats and willingness to spend time earning their trust
Requirements:
- Strong verbal & written communication and reading comprehension (must follow detailed care notes)
- Detail-oriented and proactive problem solver
- 18 years or older
- Pass state & federal background checks
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation (own or lease a vehicle)
- Respectful, positive team player who can take direction and learn
- Comfortable walking and standing for long periods of time
- Ability to lift large dogs in an emergency
- Smartphone capable of running required apps
