Airport Industrial Park (AIPA) is an owner-developed and managed multi-level office/warehouse facility conveniently located next to the Honolulu International Airport. We are looking for an Assistant Facilities Manager to join our in-house facilities team. As we continue to grow our on-site construction, maintenance, and facilities operations, we strive to provide our tenants with a first class experience.

The salary for this position ranges between $75,000 - $80,000 (determined on experience) which includes a generous benefits package.

This position will report to the Facilities Manager and will contribute to the team in effectively servicing the facility and its tenants in a professional and timely manner through a variety of responsibilities including the following:

Essential Functions:

  • Support the Facilities Manager in the supervision of team members, keeping the team consistently motivated on tasks and following daily assigned schedules
  • Manages all incoming work orders, ensuring their successful completion through quality repair/installation work
  • Be able to properly communicate instructions to the facilities team, provide detailed information and maintain a positive attitude
  • Motivate the facilities team to achieve quality, and timely results on all assigned projects
  • Provides administrative support for the facilities team
  • Must be able to be ‘hands-on’ and perform all duties in-field as assigned by the Facilities Manager including, but not limited to, landscaping, minor plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, HVAC, minor masonry, and other routine maintenance/janitorial tasks
  • Construct, rebuild, and repair equipment and furnishings, fixtures, pallet jacks, carts, compressors, timers, relays, equipment remotes, ballasts, faucets, toilets, etc.
  • Ability to operate and maintain various hand and power tools (i.e. saws, drills, grinders, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the operation of vehicles and equipment such as light trucks, work vans, forklifts, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and towing equipment; work with vendors to coordinate for repairs for tools and vehicles as needed
  • Work independently and as part of a team, completing assignments with minimal supervision and practicing sound judgment – being on the lookout for unusual occurrences and/or damage that has taken place or that may occur and taking proper steps to alert the direct manager of potential issues
  • Ensure the facilities shop is organized and clean while maintaining a safe work environment
  • Be able to lead and train team members on best practices

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in building maintenance or related industry
  • At least 2 years of proven supervision of other employees in field
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position including, but not limited to: prolonged standing and walking, climbing ladders, bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping, lift/carry minimum of 50-pounds, raise arms over head, perform overhead work, work effectively at heights and develop fine motor control (grasping and manipulating objects with fingers)
  • Ability to demonstrate professionalism and can work independently in planning, organizing, and following through on work responsibilities
  • Ability to comply with all safety standards and workplace safety practices
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of work logs and follow up on all service requests
  • Must be flexible to work varied shifts as needed from time to time in support of the team
