Summary: The Assistant Driver Manager supports the Driver Manager in overseeing daily transportation operations, driver performance, and fleet compliance. This role assists in managing driver schedules, ensuring DOT compliance, monitoring delivery efficiency, and maintaining positive driver relations.

Responsibilities:

Driver Oversight: Set clear expectations for assigned drivers regarding safety, performance, and compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Safety First: Foster a safety-driven culture by monitoring compliance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
Performance Monitoring: Track driver metrics such as on-time performance, fuel efficiency, hours of service (HOS), and compliance with routing and scheduling requirements.
Communication & Coaching: Maintain open lines of communication with drivers, explaining the "why" behind company policies and decisions to promote understanding and alignment.
Problem-Solving: Quickly and effectively resolve driver issues, including routing, load assignments, and equipment concerns.
Team Environment: Build a respectful, collaborative team atmosphere where drivers feel supported and empowered to make sound decisions.
Operational Excellence: Create a sense of urgency within the team to meet delivery timelines, address customer concerns, and handle operational issues promptly.
Compliance & Documentation: Monitor driver performance and provide documentation, coaching, or corrective action as necessary.

Qualifications:

Previous experience in transportation management, dispatching, or a similar leadership role in the logistics industry.
Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, hours of service (HOS), and safety requirements.
Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and other industry-specific tools.
Excellent communication and leadership skills to engage and motivate drivers.
A proactive, solution-oriented mindset to navigate challenges in transportation operations.

Work Environment:

This position is located in a climate-controlled office environment with standard lighting and moderate noise levels typical of professional workspace settings. The role primarily involves sitting at a desk for extended periods while working with computers, phones, and other office equipment. The collaborative environment includes interaction with team members and may require attendance at meetings, conference calls, and cross-departmental communications during regular business hours.
