DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF UTILITIES & PUBLIC WORKS
Ready to make a difference in the City of Camden community? We have a dynamic role as Deputy Director of Utilities & Public Works for the City of Camden, serving in a vital leadership capacity to support the Director in the strategic planning, oversight, and daily management of essential municipal services. This role oversees and coordinates operations across a broad range of departments, including water, wastewater, sewer, storm water, sanitation, electric, streets, parks, and garage services. The Deputy Director ensures adherence to city policies and safety standards, responds to citizen inquiries, assists with budget development and financial oversight, and ensures timely and accurate reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electric utilities and public works operations, preferably with a bachelor’s degree, along with at least five years of supervisory experience and in-depth knowledge of electric systems. Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential, as is a comprehensive understanding of municipal infrastructure, regulatory compliance, budgeting, and procurement. The position also requires proficiency in operating standard equipment, balancing multiple priorities, and working effectively in a dynamic, service-oriented environment. A valid South Carolina driver’s license is required.
