Operations Oversight & Controls
  • Oversee fortnightly CANOPUS accounting operations across Business Units (BUs) including, AP / AR, GL, monthly, quarterly and annual closing.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership in strategic planning of tasks, resource allocation, and performance reviews within the finance team.
  • Review the weekly BU tracker process to ensure accountability and visibility into operational responsibilities without engaging in day-to-day management.
  • Ensure smooth execution of financial processes and act as a coach and process owner.
  • Implement and oversee financial controls to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records, particularly monthly sales and EBITDA reporting.
  • Monitor adherence to internal controls in routine reporting (e.g., reporting packages, balance sheet reconciliations), ensuring compliance with head office and statutory requirements.
  • Provide coaching to CANOPUS team members across BUs on financial reporting and reconciliation processes, facilitating their development and independence.
  • Support with any ADHOC reporting requirements from other parts of business.
Compliance & Controls
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial control frameworks and policies across all BUs.
  • Support both internal and external audit processes, addressing findings and ensuring timely implementation of corrective actions (if applicable).
  • Oversee controls and accuracy of quarterly and annual tax filings.
  • Support senior leadership in maintaining a robust control environment to mitigate risks of fraud or material misstatement.
  • Lead initiatives that strengthen finance operations governance and internal compliance culture.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
  • Lead the preparation and review of budgets, forecasts, and dynamic financial models, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives.
  • Develop financial models to support strategic initiatives and business cases and strategic analysis of BU financial performance, identifying trends and providing recommendations.
  • Drive variance analysis (Actuals vs. Budget/Forecast) and deliver insightful commentary on, Sales performance, expenses management and operational efficiency.
  • To perform rolling forecast updates by ensuring accurate actualization of, Sales, EBITA, Locked-in contracts, renewals, prepaids, and OPEX
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual financial presentations for executive review.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning, performance management, and cost control initiatives, acting as a key thought partner for business growth.
  • Support M&A evaluations and integration planning.
  • Enhance FP&A tools, systems, and reporting frameworks.
