Assistant Manager IR/ER
Our client, a well-established and rapidly growing food & beverage manufacturing company, is seeking a seasoned and assertive Assistant Manager – Industrial Relations (IR/ER) for its Karachi plant.
This role requires hands-on experience in managing unionised environments, handling collective bargaining matters, and ensuring strict compliance with Pakistan labour laws while maintaining industrial harmony.
Qualification:
Law Graduate (LLB) from a recognized institution
Experience:
- Minimum 4–6 years of relevant IR experience in a manufacturing/plant environment
- Mandatory hands-on experience in managing end-to-end disciplinary processes.
- Compulsory experience handling complete disciplinary proceedings from initiation to closure.
- Proven experience in independently managing the full spectrum of disciplinary procedures.
- Essential experience in conducting and overseeing complete disciplinary actions, including enquiries and final outcomes.
- Demonstrated expertise in executing disciplinary processes from charge sheet to final decision.
- Mandatory experience handling a unionised workforce
- Strong exposure to collective bargaining agreements (CBA), labour courts, and conciliation proceedings
- In-depth knowledge of Pakistani Labour Laws and Industrial Relations Act
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle grievance management, disciplinary actions, domestic inquiries, and terminations
- Represent the company before labour courts, the labour department, and other statutory authorities
- Ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws and statutory requirements
- Draft legal documents, including charge sheets, show cause notices, inquiry reports, and settlement agreements
- Mitigate industrial disputes and proactively manage workplace conflict
- Maintain strong documentation and IR records for legal defensibility
- Advise plant management on legal risk, strike prevention strategies, and workforce stability
