Job Description:-
Role Objective:
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all maintenance activities in the plant, managing the maintenance team to ensure reliability, uptime, safety, statutory compliance, and cost-effective operation of all electrical, mechanical, utility, automation, and infrastructure systems. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and compliance while minimizing downtime, optimizing resources, and supporting overall production objectives
Job description:-
1) Plant Maintenance Strategy & Uptime Management :-
- Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies.
- Plan maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and optimize resources
- Monitor maintenance KPIs and performance metrics to ensure efficiency.
- Coordinate major repairs, overhauls, shutdown activities and upgrades with the production team to improve plant operations.
- Automation, PLC & Instrumentation Leadership:
a) Lead root-cause analysis for automation failures and repeated faults. b) Maintain PLC & drive documentation, backups, change logs, and networking infrastructure
- Mechanical Systems & Utility Management:
a) Ensure reliability of all mechanical equipment—motors, gearboxes, blowers, roasters, mills, chain drives, conveyors, and mixers.
b) Create long-term equipment health plans using vibration analysis, thermography, AMC support, and OEM audits.
2). Cost Management & Budgeting
- Prepare and manage the annual Maintenance Budget for spares, AMCs, tools, utilities, and manpower.
- Drive cost reduction through spares optimization, energy savings, and reliability improvements.
- Review and negotiate vendor contracts, service agreements, and AMC terms.
- Track and control monthly expenditure vs budget—identify deviations and corrective actions.
- Log and resolve employee IT issues on time.
- Install and configure new systems when required.
3). Projects, Upgrades & New Installations
- Lead installation of new equipment, utility upgrades, electrical panel modernisation, and automation projects.
- Create technical specifications, evaluate vendor quotations, and supervise commissioning.
- Allocate resources, manage timelines, and ensure projects are completed within budget.
- Ensure smooth handover of new systems with documentation, SOPs, and training. Execute energy efficiency and digitalisation projects across the plant.
4). Breakdown Management & RCA
- Investigate equipment breakdowns to identify root causes and prevent recurrence & Implement corrective actions to restore equipment performance.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements.
- Review daily/weekly breakdown trends and drive preventive actions to eliminate recurrence.
- Maintain < 3% downtime across critical processing lines.
5). Safety, Compliance & Documentation
- Enforce safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and use of PPE.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with regulatory and company standards.
- Ensure 100% compliance with all statutory requirements for boilers, compressors, electrical systems, DG, ETP/STP, lifts, and fire safety systems.
- Conduct inspections, risk assessments, and audits for panel safety, earthing, machine guards, and interlocks
- Maintain accurate records & documents – Equipment Logbook entries, PM Plan, Breakdown reports, Incident reports, List of equipment with AMC , Machine History Card Revisions, SOPs, Spares Management Record, Budget Logs, Calibration records, and other documents for audit compliance.
- Prepare project reports and monthly performance dashboards Coordinate with QQ/QC for Internal Audit and ensure readiness and compliance from the Maintenance side.
6). Team Leadership & Capacity Building
- Lead and supervise maintenance supervisors, technicians, and fitters.
- Delegate tasks, set priorities, monitor performance, and develop skills of Junior AM, supervisors, technicians, and apprentices.
- Mentor staff and promote skill development and knowledge sharing.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
