Job Summary:
The Assistant Manager – Pricing will be responsible for developing, analyzing, and managing competitive freight rates and pricing strategies across sea, air, and land freight. The role involves close coordination with carriers, agents, and internal sales teams to ensure timely and accurate quotations that support business growth and profitability within the freight forwarding and logistics sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain rate sheets for FCL, LCL, air freight, and cross-trade shipments.
- Negotiate competitive rates with shipping lines, airlines, and overseas agents.
- Analyze market trends and competitor pricing to support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare customer quotations within defined turnaround times, ensuring profitability and service accuracy.
- Coordinate with the sales and operations teams to ensure alignment on costing and service delivery.
- Monitor contract performance and update pricing in response to rate fluctuations and fuel surcharges.
- Maintain strong relationships with carriers, co-loaders, and partners to optimize cost efficiencies.
- Support tender/RFQ responses by providing accurate cost breakdowns and commercial inputs.
- Review profit margins, suggest rate revisions, and ensure pricing compliance with company policies.
- Generate reports and insights for management on rate competitiveness and trade lane performance.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Maritime Studies, or a related field.
- MBA or professional certification in Logistics/Freight Forwarding will be an advantage.
Experience:
- 3–5 years of experience in pricing, commercial, or sales support roles within the shipping or freight forwarding industry.
- Sound knowledge of ocean freight (FCL/LCL), air freight, and cross-trade logistics.
Skills:
- Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/CRM systems used in logistics.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Attention to detail with a focus on profitability and customer satisfaction.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
