Business Analyst Role

Position Reports to: Business Advisor

Key Role Description:

The Business Analyst is responsible for providing support to the Business Advisor in the delivery of strategic services to the Business. This individual will help the Business Advisor translate business strategies into actionable Talent strategies. Furthermore, the Business Analyst will help to foster change throughout the organization and ensure that Talent strategies are aligned with the firm’s culture.

The main client of the Business Analyst is the Business Advisor; while the Business Analyst will interact with the clients/ stakeholders, it would be on the request of Business Advisor to provide required advisory services to the Business.


Role Description:

  • Proactively deliver value added metrics using appropriate tools that can be translated into meaningful information by Business advisors to help provide creative solutions on business issues; leverage analytics to break down internal and external factors influencing the business

‒ Understand the market, industry and competitors to assist the business in developing a Talent strategy that meets the changing needs of the marketplace

‒ Analyzes and manipulate data using appropriate tools and fundamental information about the business to challenge conventional thinking on a business issue

‒ Proactive identify trends / anticipate issues by observing various aspects of the organization including the current workforce mix, leverage ratios, career progression of professionals, compensation strategy, development needs to offer the right solution to client

‒ Manages the analysis and evaluation of Talent programs and processes as directed by the Business Advisors

‒ Supports the Business Advisor to identify key Talent issues or trends facing the business and help formulate actions to address the issues

‒ Analyze and draw insights/patterns from data/reports such as attrition/headcount reports received from multiple sources for example R&T, ELE, Engagement Specialist etc. to assist Business advisor obtain meaningful insights/patterns.

‒ Provide insights on potential business implications by identifying trends/patterns from historical data such as performance management, compensation and help build action plans with improvements/refinements

‒ Draw insights from ES periodic employee connects reports overtime.

¡ Analyze Talent survey results for business including:

‒ Identify areas where additional information is required to understand a particular score/input from Talent survey

‒ Analysis of the verbatim comments to gain insights

‒ Advice ES to collect the same through Focus group and floor connects

‒ Analyze data received from the talent survey, Attrition analysis and ES to provide a comprehensive analysis and priority items to Business Advisor and Business to build a comprehensive action plan to enhance engagement.

¡ Share best practices both internal and external

‒ External: Study external industry best practices through research articles, newsletters related to talent management/retention, changes in business operating model that can be adopted by business. Example: provide information and insight on specific career models in the market/comparators and tailor a suitable career progression model for the Business.

‒ Build and sustain network with Business Analysts of other FSS to exchange best practices across FSS that can be adopted by business

¡ Support BA and Business to build the succession pipeline by creating/identifying frameworks from internal/external sources to identify HiPo members and send inputs to Dev CoE to build Individual Development Plans (IDP) for the potential successors

¡ Closely monitor the growth numbers, attrition trends, hiring order boards, skill set requirements and provide inputs on external market trend and help business forecast short term and long term headcount/skill needs

¡ Support business advisors in the launch of new initiatives such as a cross rotational programs and process improvement projects, by identifying opportunities across other FSS and sharing best practices that can be adopted

¡ Support Business Advisors to collaborate with various COEs & CTS on aligning their strategies, programs and policies with the Business demand and requirements to ensure effective service delivery across the Talent channels (e.g. Deployment, Total Rewards, Acquisition, Development, CTS)

¡ Support Business advisor to serve as a cultural steward to develop communications regarding Talent strategies, programs and services. This would entail:

‒ Collaborate with the Strategy and Communication COE to determine the strategy on providing key messages for the business (i.e., Talent strategies, programs, and services)
‒ Work with business leaders and FSS communications team to establish regular cadence/calendar for talent related business communications
