An assistant mechanic helps diagnose, maintain, and repair vehicles and machinery by performing routine tasks, assisting experienced mechanics, maintaining parts inventory, and keeping the work area clean and organized, all while adhering to strict safety procedures and continuing to learn new techniques. Key Responsibilities
- Assisting Mechanics: Providing hands-on support to senior mechanics during complex repairs and maintenance procedures.
- Routine Maintenance: Performing basic services like oil changes, tire repairs, and fluid checks on vehicles and equipment.
- Inspections: Conducting thorough vehicle and equipment inspections to identify potential problems and necessary repairs.
- Part Management: Ordering, receiving, organizing, and tracking parts to ensure proper inventory levels for repairs.
- Cleaning and Organization: Keeping the work area, tools, and equipment clean and well-maintained to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly following all safety procedures, guidelines, and rules for handling tools, equipment, and hazardous materials.
- Record Keeping: Accurately documenting maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used for record-keeping purposes.
- Skill Development: Proactively learning and developing new skills, keeping up with new automotive technologies, and seeking opportunities to advance to more complex roles.
