Job Summary

The Assistant Operator – Extrusion Department will support the Extrusion Machine Operator in the setup, operation, and basic maintenance of extrusion lines used for plastic film/packaging production. The role focuses on smooth production, consistent product quality, and adherence to safety and housekeeping standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Extrusion Operator in setting up and starting extrusion machines as per the production plan.
• Prepare and load raw materials (resins, masterbatch, additives) according to job specifications.
• Monitor machine parameters (temperature, pressure, thickness, width, etc.) during operation and report any deviations.
• Help in adjusting process settings under the guidance of the Operator / Supervisor.
• Assist in roll changes, material splicing, and packing of finished rolls.
• Perform basic quality checks such as film thickness, gauge, visual inspection for defects, and ensure compliance with standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the machine area, platforms, ladders, and surrounding workspace.
• Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety rules, and PPE requirements.
• Support in routine cleaning of dies, filters, air rings, and other machine parts as instructed.
• Properly handle, label, and store raw materials, regrind, and finished products.
• Record production data on job cards, checklists, and log sheets as required.
• Immediately inform the Operator / Supervisor of any breakdowns, abnormalities, safety hazards, or quality issues.

Requirements

• Education: Technical or vocational diploma in mechanical/production/plastics will be an advantage.
• Experience: 0–2 years in plastic extrusion/film manufacturing/packaging industry preferred (fresh candidates with aptitude will also be considered).
• Basic understanding of industrial machinery and safety practices.
• Willingness to work in shifts and perform overtime as per production needs.
• Physically fit and able to work on feet, climb stairs, and handle material loading/unloading.
• Responsible, punctual, and willing to learn.
