Assistant Pack Leader / Dog Pack Hiker

Trail Dogs is hiring an assistant pack leader!

We believe in the importance of structured exercise and training for a happy balanced dog. We provide a full range of services that focuses on a dogs training, exercise and adventure needs. We offer training, solo or pack hiking, and boarding/sitting.

We are looking for the perfect person to assist with our training focused hiking program.

You:

• love dogs (any size, any breed) and nature, and are not afraid of the elements (dirt, slobber, lizards, snakes, bugs - flies, spiders, ticks, etc.).
• are comfortable around a large pack of dogs, able to handle a small group.
• physically fit and able to hike at a moderate to fast pace on various levels of terrain/incline for at least 2 hours.
• can think on your feet and are a problem solver with a positive attitude who is eager to learn.
• are dependable, and responsible is your middle name.
• work well with others and value the importance of team work.
• must have reliable transportation (not a tiny car - preferably hatchback, mini suv, van or suv) and the ability to transport dogs to and from the trail.

You should live within/close to our service area of the mid and west side of Los Angeles.

The position is part time. 6+/- hours/day. There will be a training/evaluation period; meeting at the trail 2-3 days/week for training/assistance ($60 flat rate - roughly 2 hours - availability should be 1- 3pm). If you are asked to step into Assistant Pack Leader position, we will start 2-5 days/week helping with transport and hiking ($140 flat rate to start, with the potential for a lot of growth - roughly <5 hours - availability should be 11-5. Your pay is dependent on experience. If you have dog pack experience and can handle an entire pack, pay is $175-200. There is also an opportunity for boarding which is a great way to make extra money and have more time working with the pack members.

We hike in the Santa Monica mountains and service the Mid and West Side of Los Angeles; Monday - Friday in the afternoons, rain or shine, cold or hot weather.

This is a really great, fun, challenging and rewarding job for the right person with plenty of room to grow with this growing company! Professional experience preferred, not required. Dog experience is required. I am looking for the perfect person to add to the team!
