General Summary
This position is responsible for assisting the Plant Manager in developing, managing and maintaining profitable plant and materials operations by coordinating personnel and equipment to ensure operation efficiency and profitability.
Essential Job Accountabilities
Assist in managing one to two asphalt plants and associated sand, gravel, and crushing operations to ensure efficient production and maximum profitability
Review cost reports to ensure financial accuracy and support informed operational decision-making
Assist in preparing operating budgets and forecasting data to support planning efforts and achieve established financial goals
Track and report material production data to optimize plant resources and meet the needs of internal and external customers.
Help maintain accurate records and equipment locations to ensure effective inventory control and reduce equipment-related costs
Assist in coordinating and scheduling plant resources to maximize operational efficiency and support continuous production demands
Assist in the hiring of plant personnel to help build a qualified and productive workforce
Help coordinate and conduct safety orientations for new plant personnel to ensure safety protocols are introduced and learned
Lead weekly safety meetings as needed to reinforce safe work practices and keep staff informed of evolving safety procedures
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering, or Civil Engineering preferred
Work Experience
Minimum 3 years of experience as a plant engineer, or in other plant-related roles
Knowledge of rock plants and heavy equipment, with an understanding of asphalt, aggregate, gradations, and mining practices
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of materials business
Knowledge and experience with Hot Mix Asphalt Plants preferred
Must have demonstrated decision making skills
Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Advanced knowledge and understanding of heavy civil construction materials
Understanding of material design, sampling & testing requirements
Understanding of construction processes

Base Salary Range:
$87,565.00 - $131,349.00
Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
