Assistant Professor of Practice in Artificial Intelligence:
The Department of Information Technology in the College of Engineering and Information Technology (CEIT) at Ajman University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Practice in Artificial Intelligence, beginning in the Fall 2026–2027 academic year. This position is intended for a qualified academic and industry-oriented professional who can bring current, practice-based expertise in Artificial Intelligence to the classroom. The successful candidate will contribute to an applied learning environment by delivering innovative, engaging instruction, integrating real-world AI tools and workflows into instruction, and helping students develop the practical, professional, and entrepreneurial skills needed for careers in AI and related digital technologies. The role places particular emphasis on industry engagement, applied learning, partnership development, and workforce readiness, in addition to teaching, academic service, and scholarly or professional contributions.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE :
Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a closely related field from a reputable university
Demonstrated teaching experience in AI, computing, or IT-related courses at the undergraduate level
Strong professional or leadership experience in industry, data-driven organizations, digital transformation, software development, intelligent systems, or related technology sectors
Ability to connect theory with professional practice and translate industry needs into relevant learning experiences
Experience in supervising student capstone projects, internships, applied projects, or practice-based learning activities
Experience with contemporary AI tools, frameworks, and platforms, such as machine learning libraries, generative AI tools, cloud AI services, data analytics platforms, MLOps environments, or intelligent application development ecosystems
Evidence of professional engagement, applied scholarship, consultancy, innovation, or collaborative projects with external partners
Record of community engagement, academic service, or professional activities
Interdisciplinary collaboration experience is desirable
Experience, or strong potential, in securing external support through grants, consultancy, sponsored projects, or industry collaboration is an advantage
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
Teach undergraduate courses in Artificial Intelligence, Information Technology, and related areas using effective, student-centered, and technology-enhanced teaching approaches
Design and deliver practice-oriented learning experiences that incorporate real-world case studies, datasets, tools, platforms, and industry scenarios
Supervise student capstone projects, internships, applied research, innovation projects, and career-oriented activities
Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with advances in AI, industry trends, employer expectations, and accreditation requirements
Build and sustain partnerships with industry, government, and community stakeholders to support internships, guest lectures, mentoring, live projects, consulting, and collaborative initiatives
Support the development of innovation spaces, AI practice environments, and experiential learning opportunities for students
Mentor students in professional readiness, including portfolio development, competitions, certifications, entrepreneurship, and career pathways in AI and digital technologies
Engage in professional practice, applied research, scholarly activity, or pedagogical innovation relevant to the field
Contribute to the growth and visibility of Ajman University through teaching excellence, service, outreach, and external engagement
Assess student learning, monitor academic progress, and provide timely and constructive feedback
Foster an inclusive, respectful, and culturally responsive learning environment
Establish and maintain effective professional relationships within the University and with external stakeholders
Participate in professional organizations, conferences, and industry networks to maintain currency in the field
Participate actively in departmental, college, and university committees and other institutional service activities
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS :
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to teach effectively in a diverse and multicultural environment
Ability to connect academic content with current industry practice and emerging technological developments
Ability to supervise student projects and provide academic and professional mentoring
Familiarity with the credit-hour academic system
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and digital teaching tools
Knowledge of curriculum planning, assessment, and program development
Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, industry representatives, and other stakeholders
Awareness of responsible AI practices, including ethics, governance, privacy, security, and societal impact
Ability to contribute to applied scholarship, innovation, or professional engagement relevant to the discipline
