JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Programme Manager – Global Projects will play a key coordination and delivery role in the management of a new international programme under Emirates Nature–WWF’s conservation portfolio, names Building Community Resilience to Natural Hazards across the Asia Pacific, which will oversee a programmatic approach to deliver nature based solutions for to build the resilience of people and nature.

The role focuses on programme coordination, grant management, stakeholder engagement, and strategic alignment across international partners, including WWF network offices and IFRC country programmes in the Philippines, Indonesia, Solomon Islands, and Fiji. The Assistant Manager will ensure effective programme oversight, strong governance, high-quality reporting, and alignment with Emirates Nature–WWF’s conservation strategy.

Working closely with the Associate Director – Global Projects and internal programme teams, the role supports strategic implementation rather than strategy ownership, ensuring funded initiatives deliver measurable impact while strengthening partnerships, mobilising additional resources, and contributing to organisational learning

BACKGROUND

Emirates Nature is a UAE environmental non-governmental charity, established in 2001 under the Honorary Founder and President H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan as a legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed’s vision for the United Arab Emirates. HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan is the Ruler’s representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of Environmental Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) Board of Directors.

We operate with offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah and are governed by a local board of directors.

Emirates Nature works in association with WWF, one of the world’s largest and most respected independent conservation organizations. Emirates Nature-WWF has been active in the UAE for two decades and is renowned for its commitment to biodiversity conservation, habitat protection, sustainable development, and community engagement. Some of our flagship projects include marine conservation initiatives to protect coral reefs and marine species, wildlife conservation programs focusing on endangered species such as Arabian oryx and sea turtles, habitat restoration projects in critical ecosystems, and sustainable development initiatives aimed at mitigating climate change impacts and promoting eco-friendly practices across various sectors.

It is our organizational objective to ensure a high performing workforce within our offices with highly efficient, skilled members all of whom will be unilaterally focused on supporting and delivering conservation activities to our stakeholders within the UAE.

MAJOR DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Grant & Programme Coordination

  • Support the management and coordination of the UAE Aid Agency funded BCRN programme, ensuring effective implementation, reporting, and compliance.

  • Coordinate programme and in-country activities across WWF network offices and IFRC partners in Asia-Pacific countries.

  • Monitor programme milestones, deliverables, and reporting timelines.

  • Ensure alignment between programme outputs and Emirates Nature–WWF’s strategic objectives.

  • Oversee and coordinate the delivery of programme outputs such as research, case studies and more to ensure high quality content and internal alignment.

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships

  • Maintain day-to-day coordination with WWF offices, IFRC partners, donor stakeholders, and implementing organisations.

  • Facilitate communication between partners to ensure programme coherence and effective collaboration.

  • Support preparation of donor updates, programme briefings, and stakeholder presentations.

  • Represent Emirates Nature–WWF in coordination meetings, workshops, and programme forums as required.

  • Organize, coordinate and implement events to raise awareness on impact, programme objectives, and partnership.

Strategic Alignment & Impact Integration

  • Support integration of programme insights into organisational strategy and planning processes.

  • Contribute to updating impact frameworks and tracking programme outcomes.

  • Assist in identifying emerging risks, opportunities, and strategic implications for the organisation.

  • Provide analysis and briefing materials to inform senior leadership decision-making.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Coordinate programme reporting requirements, including donor reporting and internal updates.

  • Ensure consistent documentation, data collection, and impact measurement across partner organisations.

  • Track progress against KPIs and flag implementation risks early.

  • Support evaluation processes and lessons learned integration.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure programme delivery adheres to donor requirements, internal governance standards, and WWF network protocols.

  • Support risk identification and mitigation strategies across programme implementation.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and records for audit and reporting purposes.

Internal Coordination & Communication

  • Work closely with finance, legal, conservation, fundraising, communications, and operations teams to ensure integrated programme delivery.

  • Regularly update workplans, leadership and project delivery tools to track progress on programme activities.

  • Support internal communications to keep staff informed about programme progress and impact.

  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and organisational learning initiatives.

  • Coordinate and review deliverables linked to marketing, communication and content development.

Resource Mobilization

  • Work closely with the Resource Mobilization lead to support communication, outreach, and content development to continue to raise funds for the programme.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in programme/project management support roles, with at least 2–3 years of hands-on project management support within an NGO, preferably in environmental or conservation sectors.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage programme budgets, donor reporting, and financial oversight of large-scale projects.

  • Prior experience in the Asia-Pacific region with a good understanding of local environmental regulations and cultural contexts is a plus.

  • Experience working with international NGOs, development agencies, or environmental programmes preferred.

  • Experience managing multi-stakeholder partnerships and donor-funded programmes.

  • Familiarity with climate resilience, conservation, or sustainable development initiatives is desirable.

  • Experience working in the Asia-Pacific region or with international programme coordination is an advantage.

  • Adaptability, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills are a must.

EDUCATION/SKILLS

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, international development, business administration, sustainability, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is advantageous.

  • Relevant certifications in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) are highly desirable.

  • Additional certifications in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) or data analytics related to programme delivery are an advantage.

Skills:

  • Strong programme coordination and grant management skills, with experience supporting complex multi-stakeholder initiatives across geographies.

  • Proven ability to manage partnerships with international NGOs, donors, and technical partners, demonstrating cultural awareness and diplomatic stakeholder engagement.

  • Experience supporting monitoring, evaluation, and reporting processes, with the ability to translate programme data into clear insights and donor-ready updates.

  • Good understanding of programme governance, compliance requirements, and risk awareness within donor-funded or conservation-related initiatives.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with confidence preparing reports, presentations, and stakeholder communications.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and cross-functional coordination effectively.

  • Familiarity with climate resilience, conservation, or community-based development programmes is advantageous.

  • Proactive, adaptable, and solutions-oriented approach, with the ability to work independently while supporting collaborative team environments.
