Assistant Project Manager

Salary: $92,848.00 – $137,500.00 annually

Location: Los Angeles, CA 90045

Full-Time, Onsite (Monday - Thursday), Remote (Friday only)


We are seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager to support engineering projects focused on plant expansions, automation, and system improvements. This role plays a key part in designing, implementing, and managing automation and control systems across manufacturing operations.

The ideal candidate has a strong electrical engineering background with hands-on automation experience and the ability to coordinate projects from concept through completion.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support engineering projects for plant expansions and improvements
  • Design and coordinate automation projects involving PLC systems, including design, implementation, integration, testing, and on-site startup
  • Develop and program HMI systems using Visual Basic, C++, HMI software, and SQL databases
  • Prepare project proposals and coordinate with team members to define scope, deliverables, objectives, and budgets
  • Evaluate and support purchasing of automation software, hardware, and related equipment
  • Provide technical support to plant control systems and assist in developing new in-house machinery systems
  • Utilize Microsoft Project for scheduling and technical project coordination
  • Prepare and review CAD electrical drawings and schematics to develop process control solutions
  • Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing personnel, and vendors to ensure successful project execution


Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Control Systems
  • 5–7 years of hands-on experience as an Automation Engineer or in a related field
  • Demonstrated project leadership experience coordinating cross-functional teams and vendors
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming and automation system integration
  • Experience with HMI development and database integration
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Project
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and design drawings
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
