Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly competent Assistant Resident Engineer to lead and oversee construction supervision activities on site. The successful candidate will ensure that all works executed by the Contractor comply with contract documents, authority regulations, and site requirements, delivering high-quality outcomes with strong financial efficiency and within project timelines.
The Assistant Resident Engineer will operate with minimal supervision, coordinating closely with multidisciplinary teams while ensuring compliance with the company’s Quality Management System (QMS). This role requires strong leadership capabilities, comprehensive technical expertise, and proven experience managing clients, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, staff, execute, and monitor all construction supervision activities in coordination with the Construction Supervision HOD.
- Ensure proper administration of the construction contract in line with client expectations regarding time, cost, and quality.
- Monitor site activities and provide regular reports and performance assurance to management.
- Promote and enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Review, manage, and approve project documentation including progress reports, non-conformities, corrective actions, plans, and logs.
- Maintain and control project documentation such as drawings, specifications, change orders, and back-charge documents.
- Provide technical guidance on scope of work, schedules, construction challenges, and other site-related matters.
- Lead design reviews at early project stages, highlighting concerns related to coordination, constructability, and materials.
- Chair and attend progress meetings with clients, supervision teams, contractors, and stakeholders to resolve project issues.
- Monitor and manage approved design changes during construction.
- Administer and manage contractual matters to safeguard the rights and obligations of all parties.
- Ensure full compliance with company policies, QMS procedures, and operational standards.
- Apply thorough knowledge of local authority regulations and construction laws relevant to the project.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Construction Engineering (Master’s degree or PMP certification preferred).
- Certified Engineer with valid GCC engineering membership.
- Minimum 15 years of experience as a Resident Engineer.
- Strong commercial and contract management experience.
- Extensive knowledge of local construction laws and authority regulations.
- Familiarity with international and regional construction codes and standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities.
