Assistant Teacher

Overview

Little Sunflowers Child Care is seeking a reliable, nurturing, and responsible Full-Time Assistant Teacher to join our Group Family Daycare located in the village of Cobleskill, NY.

We are a small, home-based program that takes pride in providing a safe, structured, and loving environment where children can learn, play, and grow. We are looking for someone who is patient, dependable, and genuinely enjoys working with young children.

This is a full-time position with a consistent weekday schedule, ideal for someone looking for a stable role in a positive and supportive childcare environment.

Schedule

• Full-time, Monday–Friday
• Approximate hours: 7:30/8:00-4:00/4:30

Responsibilities

• Provide attentive supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of all children
• Assist with daily routines including meals, snacks, diapering/toileting, and nap time
• Engage children in age-appropriate activities, including play, crafts, and learning experiences
• Help maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary environment in accordance with NYS OCFS regulations
• Support a structured daily schedule while remaining responsive to children’s needs
• Use positive guidance techniques to support children’s social and emotional development
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with the provider, children, and families
• Follow all health, safety, and licensing requirements
• Assist with general daily tasks such as cleaning, sanitizing, and preparing activities

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must be able to pass all required NYS OCFS background checks and clearances
• Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain consistent attendance
• Comfortable caring for infants through school-age children (8 weeks-10 years old)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Physically able to lift, carry, and actively engage with children throughout the day
• Must have reliable transportation

Preferred but not required:

• Previous childcare experience
• CPR and First Aid Certification
• Early Childhood Education background or coursework
