About the Office

This position is located in the Thomas F. Eagleton courthouse in downtown St. Louis. St. Louis is the home to four professional sports teams. Forest Park is one of the largest inner-city parks and is home to the St. Louis Zoo, St. Louis Science Center, and the History Museum. St. Louis is also home to three performing arts centers, with the Fabulous Fox, Peabody Opera House, and the Muny.


This district office has public transportation stops within two blocks and participates in the mass transit benefit program. This district is also easily accessible from four different highways with covered and uncovered parking within 3 blocks of the office.


The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Missouri serves over half the population of Missouri. We have offices in St. Louis and Cape Girardeau with over 90 attorneys and support personnel.

Job Description

In the Civil Division, you will be part of a team responsible for protecting the rights and interest of the American people by legal representation, enforcement of Federal laws, and defense of U.S. interests. Our Civil Division effectively represents the interests of the United Sates in all civil matters for which the Department of Justice has jurisdiction. This position will require practice in the area of, among other things, federal torts, Title VII Immigration, and other miscellaneous civil defense matters.


Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), and have at least one (1) year post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience. Applicant must possess superior oral and written communication skills, as well as strong character and interpersonal skills; have demonstrated the capacity to function, with minimal guidance, in a highly demanding environment.


United States citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Outstanding academic record; complex litigation experience involving white collar or civil litigation; exceptional research and writing ability; the ability to successfully represent the interest of the United States in federal court; the ability to handle and successfully manage a heavy case load involving complex cases.

Salary

The range of basic pay is $75,815 to $195,100 which includes 20.03% locality pay
