POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Accounting Analyst is expected to be fully engaged in supporting Health First’s Quality/No
Harm, Customer Experience and Stewardship goals and objectives. Under the direct supervision of the
Accounting Supervisor/Corporate Accounting Manager, the Associate Accounting Analyst provides
superior quality, competitive value and outstanding service. Additionally this position will support the
Accounting Analyst and the Sr. Accounting Analyst. The Associate Accounting Analyst’s responsibilities
include routine and non-routine assignments that ultimately result in excellent internal controls, timely and
error free reporting and serve the needs of our internal and external customers.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Quality/No Harm:

Provide financial close support including:
-
Analyze and prepare preliminary standard and adjusting journal entries for assigned key transactions/business units.
-
Identify and research relevant balance sheet variances.
-
Prepare balance sheet write-ups and analysis for assigned business units.
-
Support Finance goals, reporting and control requirements which may include:
-
Assist with preparation of sales and use tax returns for assigned business units.
-
Prepare bank recons or cash flow logs as assigned.
-
Prepare account reconciliations as assigned.
-
Review account reconciliations as assigned.
-
Support various financial audits.
-
Provide support and assistance to assigned significant transaction cycles, which may include:

Treasury Services
-
Merchant Services
-
Fixed Assets
-
Vendor Master Management
-
Escheat/Unclaimed Property
-
Lease Accounting
-
Debt compliance
-
Tax Compilation
-
Statutory/Regulatory
-
Internal/Line of Business Reporting
-
External Reporting
-
Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned which may include:
-
Surveys
-
Information requests (business interruption, rating agency data, etc.)

Department leader project requests.
-
Process improvement task force requests.
-
Other ad hoc requests.

Work Experience
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
-
B.S. degree in accounting, finance, or related field, from an accredited college or university.
-
Prior experience and knowledge in the use of software packages such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Windows. PeopleSoft ERP system experience preferred.
-
Healthcare experience in accounting concepts, practices, and principles preferred.
-
Experience in automated accounting systems.
-
Knowledge in general ledger, bank reconciliation, account analysis, and schedule preparation.
-
Basic accounting and fiscal management concepts.
-
Enthusiasm and high level of job interest.
-
Possess excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

Possess computer abilities as well as oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrates the ability to relate well with all customers and peers.

Knows basic fundamental concepts necessary to analyze accuracy of asset and liability balances of all entities.
