Associate Editor

Industry-leading national business publisher Franchise Times Corp. is hiring a full-time associate editor at its suburban Minneapolis headquarters for its Food On Demand publication to cover the evolving restaurant business.

*Eligible candidates must be in Minnesota or willing to relocate*

In this dynamic role, you will join a talented editorial team that brings style and personality to its brands and industry reporting. Our award-winning group of journalists deploys humor and flair across our platforms while also serving readers through wide-ranging and in-depth industry editorial coverage.

The associate editor will work with the publisher and managing editor to compile stories and report articles that align with the company’s B2B focus covering the restaurant industry. The associate editor will focus on producing digital content for our Food On Demand and Restaurant Finance Monitor divisions that engages and grows our online audience. This position will also take an active role with digital events and participate in conference planning and on-stage content.

As Associate Editor, you will:

• Report on industry news and write weekly stories.
• Work closely with editors to develop engaging content strategies.
• Organize and moderate virtual and live event sessions.
• Attend and cover industry conferences while developing key relationships.

You Have:

• At least 5 years of business or general assignment reporting experience.
• Demonstrated personal skills and sound editorial judgment.
• Understanding of SEO and site/traffic metrics such as Google analytics.
• Experience working in a content management system.
• Excellent storytelling ability and command of proper grammar and style.
• Strong interviewing skills.
• The motivation to learn and constantly strive for improvement.
• Ability to take direction, prioritize and work independently.
• A bachelor’s degree in journalism, digital communications/media or related area of study.
