Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for supporting AKU’s legal and research functions. Key responsibilities include:

• Drafting, reviewing, and updating legal documents, agreements, templates, and correspondence
• Providing legal support to the department on assigned matters.
• Summarizing complex legal information into clear, concise, and easily understandable language for both legal and non-legal stakeholders.
• Conducting detailed legal research to support cases, projects, and compliance needs.
• Ensuring legal documents are structured logically, meet organizational standards, and comply with applicable regulatory frameworks.
• Assisting in research related projects related to research by offering legal input on regulatory considerations, intellectual property, confidentiality, research ethics, and institutional approvals.
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with legal, regulatory, and institutional policies.
• Supporting the department during audits, inspections, internal reviews, and compliance assessments.
• Maintaining organized records, document logs, and legal files to support institutional governance and audit readiness.
• Monitoring regulatory changes and updating the team on relevant legal developments.

Requirements:

• LLB degree with 1–2 years of relevant legal experience.
• Strong legal and analytical skills, with the ability to review and interpret laws and regulations.
• Excellent drafting skills with a focus on clarity and accuracy.
• Demonstrate interest in legal work related to research and innovation.
• Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in legal research tools, MS Office applications, and document-management systems.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
