Job Purpose: Site Head (Large) - Wind O&M is responsible for managing the operational efficiency and financial performance of a large-scale (101-300 MW) wind energy site. This role involves overseeing budget adherence, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards, and achieving wind-specific operational targets. The Site Head leads people development initiatives, drives process improvements, and executes strategic business plans. They manage stakeholder relationships, optimize inventory, and integrate advanced technological solutions to enhance site performance and achieve sustainability goals.

Responsibilities

Financial Management and Reporting:

Monitor and reconcile monthly budget performance, with detailed reviews of variances.

Oversee OPEX, CAPEX, and procurement budgets to align with financial targets specific to wind energy operations.

Ensure timely financial processing and payments to meet revenue and expense targets.

Implement SAP, ensuring efficient preventive and breakdown maintenance processes and timely closure of notifications.

Analyze daily operational interruptions, proactively addressing issues through Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) to improve wind turbine reliability.

Operational Excellence And Compliance

Achieve and track wind energy performance metrics, including Capacity Utilization Factor (CUF), Plant Availability (PA), and Grid Availability (GA), with periodic analysis and reporting.

Ensure zero repetitive audit observations and timely closure of points raised in IMS and MAAS audits.

Maintain inventory within optimal levels, managing stock using VED (Vital, Essential, Desirable), FSN (Fast, Slow, Non-moving), and ABC analysis.

Implement and oversee preventive maintenance and asset upkeep for wind turbines and related electrical components.

Maintain compliance with management systems (ESG, Legatrix, 5S, IMS), and ensure all statutory requirements and government regulations specific to wind operations are met.

People Development And Management

Recruit for vacant positions within 45 days, ensuring a qualified team to meet operational needs.

Meet training mandates, fostering skills development with at least 20% of the workforce prepared for elevated roles.

Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders and coordinate site activities effectively.

Safety And Environmental Health

Drive a culture of zero accidents and Lost Time Injuries (LTIs) by enforcing daily safety protocols, including prechecks and safety briefings specific to wind operations.

Ensure compliance with safety audit requirements and address risks promptly, implementing corrective actions as needed.

Conduct regular environmental health assessments to maintain safe wind energy production.

Business Processes And Strategic Planning

Develop and execute business processes and strategic plans to optimize wind site operations.

Oversee site planning, inventory control, and procurement, ensuring operational continuity and minimal downtime.

Implement ESG initiatives and business excellence practices, supporting the company’s sustainability objectives in wind energy.

Technology And Innovation

Lead the adoption of technology platforms such as BAX, Google IC, and SCADA systems to optimize performance and monitor wind turbine metrics.

Utilize data analytics to track wind speed, turbine efficiency, and other operational metrics to maximize site performance.

Key Operational Targets

Track and report on key performance indicators, focusing on wind-specific operational targets, while highlighting significant accomplishments and areas for improvement.

Coordinate and manage VIP visits and special events at the site, providing support for successful event execution.

Material And Asset Management

Manage inventory and asset maintenance projects, ensuring all activities are completed within budget, on schedule, and to quality standards.

Oversee the timely calibration and testing of turbines, transformers, and electrical components in accordance with industry standards.

Manage scrap disposal and ensure compliance with storage and preservation policies specific to wind assets.

Educational Qualifications:

B.E./B.Tech/Diploma - Electrical or Mechanical or relevant to Energy Sector

MBA - Advantageous

Work Experience

13-15 years of experience in Energy Sector is must. (If Diploma holder: additional 2-3 Y Exp. req.)
