Associate- Roads (Expression of Interest)

Job Description

WSP is seeking an experienced Associate to join our Roads & Highways team in Oman for upcoming projects. This role sits at a senior technical level and will be responsible for leading the design delivery of complex roads and highways packages for large-scale infrastructure and land development projects across the Emirate.

The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, extensive experience on Oman projects, and a proven ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver fully integrated and compliant design solutions.

Responsibilities

Technical Design Leadership

• Lead the planning and detailed design of roads and highways infrastructure, including arterial roads, local roads, interchanges, junctions, and access roads.
• Ensure all designs comply with Oman authority standards, manuals, specifications, and international best practice.
• Review and approve technical deliverables, drawings, reports, and design calculations to ensure quality and consistency.
  
  
  

Project Delivery & Multidisciplinary Coordination

• Coordinate closely with internal and external disciplines including utilities, drainage, traffic, structures, street lighting, landscaping, and public realm.
• Manage design interfaces and resolve technical conflicts to ensure fully coordinated, buildable solutions.
• Support project managers in meeting programme, quality, and delivery milestones.
  
  
  

Client & Authority Engagement

• Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and coordination sessions with Clients and Oman authorities.
• Support authority submissions and approvals, ensuring timely responses to comments and compliance with requirements.
• Provide technical advice to Clients on design development, constructability, and risk mitigation.
  
  
  

Commercial & Operational Support

• Assist in resource planning, task allocation, and technical input to project programmes.
• Support bid preparation, fee proposals, and technical submissions for roads and highways projects.
• Contribute to improving internal design processes, standards, and best practices.
  
  
  

Leadership & Mentoring

• Provide guidance and mentoring to engineers and senior engineers within the Roads & Highways team.
• Support capability development and knowledge sharing across the discipline.
  
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
• 15+ years of professional experience in roads and highways design.
• Extensive experience delivering Oman-based infrastructure and land development projects.
• Strong understanding of Oman authority standards, approval processes, and regulatory requirements.
• Proven experience coordinating and managing multi-disciplinary design teams.
• Ability to lead technical delivery packages with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
