Associate - Software Test Engineer (SMP)

***Clarification on SMP Contract: It is Supplementary Manpower service contract job in which prospective applicants are interviewed and salary determined by NEOM interview panel; and being employed under the payroll of SMP Contract (SMP Vendor). Successfully mobilized candidates would be under the visa sponsorship of SMP Vendor Company/Contract.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Associate - Software Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of the Public Safety Services Web Portal (PSSW) and PSSN Mobile App , which provide critical digital services such as Digital ID Registration, Visits, Vehicles, and related modules .

This role involves designing, executing, and automating test cases for web and mobile applications, identifying defects, and ensuring that applications meet user expectations and compliance requirements. The Software Test Engineer will work closely with developers, product owners, and support engineers to validate features and deliver high-quality releases.

The position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in test automation tools. The Software Test Engineer will report directly to the QA Lead or Project Manager.

REQUIREMENTS SUMMARY

• Proven experience in software testing for web and mobile applications.
• Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
• Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Cypress, or equivalent).
• Familiarity with .NET, Angular/React, Flutter (the technologies used to build the applications).
• Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and ability to perform API testing.
• Experience with test management and bug-tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
• Ability to work in Agile/Scrum teams, participating in sprint ceremonies.
• Knowledge of performance, security, and usability testing best practices.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES

Test Planning & Execution

• Design, develop, and execute detailed test plans, test cases, and scripts for web and mobile applications.
• Ensure coverage across functional, integration, regression, and acceptance testing.
• Collaborate with product owners to validate acceptance criteria for user stories.

Automation & Tools

• Develop and maintain automated test scripts for regression and smoke testing.
• Utilize automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Cypress).
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous quality assurance.

Defect Management

• Identify, log, and track defects with clear reproduction steps and severity levels.
• Collaborate with developers and support engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Perform retesting and regression testing after defect resolution.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure quality standards are met.
• Participate in sprint ceremonies (planning, standups, reviews, retrospectives).
• Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and practices.
• Stay updated with trends and best practices in testing web and mobile applications.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Experience testing both web and mobile applications.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing tools and frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of functional, regression, performance, and security testing.
• Familiarity with databases (SQL Server, NoSQL) for test data preparation and validation.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps testing practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Certification (or equivalent) is preferred.
• Certifications in test automation tools or Agile practices are an advantage.
