Associate Submarine Cable Operations - CLS NOC

Note: This position is for our Cable Landing Station (Hawks Bay), Pick and drop facilities has been provided by a company.

Job Description:

• Execute shift duties in a 24x7 Network Operation Center for the Transport Network.
• Demonstrate a sound understanding and knowledge of optical fiber technology, including SDH, DWDM, OTN, networking protocols, and operational best practices.
• Possess a comprehensive understanding of alarms in optical fiber transmission systems and respond promptly to address issues.
• Oversee the operation and maintenance of the optical fiber transmission network.
• Apply strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for prompt fault rectification.
• Communicate effectively and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Coordinate with local and international partners for testing new services and troubleshooting working services.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance activities on SDH, DWDM, and OTN equipment.
• Conduct regular health checks on network nodes and fiber media to identify and address potential issues.
• Perform testing of new and working services using Bit Error Rate Testing (BERT) to ensure service quality and integrity.

Education: Bachelors/ Masters in Telecom/ Electronics Engineering

Experience: Min 2 years of relevant Experience

Skills:

• · Knowledge of SDH, DWDM, OTN, and networking protocols.
• · Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
• · Effective communication and collaboration with teams.
• · Skills in preventive and corrective maintenance.
• · Conducting regular health checks.
• · Testing using BERT for service validation.
