Scott & Associates, P.C., is a well-established multi-state legal recoveries law firm seeking a motivated Attorney to join our Houston, Texas team.
Since our inception in May 2000, we've evolved into a significant player in debt recovery litigation, providing comprehensive solutions for major banks and creditors.
This position is a salary plus commission-eligible opportunity with no billable hour requirement. Commissions are based on attorney-negotiated settlements.
Must be licensed and in good standing with the State of Texas. Salary is dependent upon qualifications.

The successful candidate will possess excellent organizational skills and familiarity with courtroom and civil procedures.

General comfort with technology and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.

The candidate must be able to work independently and professionally interact with staff, opposing counsel, and the courts.

Collection experience is preferred but not required, training is available.
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

The review and approval of new claims within the Attorney’s jurisdiction(s). This includes meeting state level goals for consistent case movement.

Under the direction of the Managing Attorney/Regional Attorney, assists with management and supervision of jurisdictional inventory. This includes exception and queue management.

Conduct document review and discovery

Execute documents requiring Attorney’s signature

Communicate with Managing Attorney/Regional Attorney and clients in order to discuss details of cases

Assist in responding to litigation specific components of all client audits

Monitor relevant legal rules, regulations, statutes, and case law

Conduct research and analysis of legal problems

Analyze the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents

Prepare and file legal documents

Manage and resolve collection litigation

Work with Pro Se litigants, opposing counsel, or other interested parties to settle files throughout the litigation process

Oversees and interacts with outside collections and defense counsel

Supports corporate compliance with laws and regulations governing debt collection and related activities

All other duties as assigned by the Managing Attorney or Regional Attorney.

Graduate of an accredited institution by the American Bar Association (ABA) with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree

Licensed to practice law

Demonstrated case analysis ability and a track record of proven settlement skills

Proficient in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Power Point

Proficient in internet and online research

Ability to operate basic office equipment such as a copy machine, printer, scanner, and computer

Effective oral and written communication skills with knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation usage

Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
