Automation Electrical Engineer

Role Overview

The Automation Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing electrical and automation systems for industrial machinery and control applications. The role includes PLC/HMI programming, electrical design, troubleshooting, and supporting project execution at customer sites.
Responsibilities

• Design electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts using AutoCAD/E-Plan.
• Prepare BOM, documentation, and ensure compliance with IEC/NEMA standards.
• Select PLCs, drives, sensors, relays, and other automation components.
• Develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA programs (Siemens/Allen-Bradley/Omron/Mitsubishi).
• Configure and troubleshoot VFDs, servo drives, and industrial communication networks (Modbus/Profibus/Profinet/Ethernet-IP).
• Integrate sensors, actuators, and automation hardware into control systems.
• Perform panel testing, I/O testing, and functional trials before dispatch.
• Troubleshoot electrical circuits, PLC logic, and machine/process issues.
• Execute installation and commissioning at customer sites (domestic/international).
• Coordinate with mechanical, design, and project teams for smooth execution.
• Handle vendor coordination for component selection and technical clarifications.
• Prepare project reports, test documents, and technical records.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and company guidelines.
• Provide post-installation technical support and maintenance assistance.
• Support continuous improvement and contribute to automation upgrades.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of industrial automation systems and electrical control design.
• Hands-on experience in PLC/HMI/SCADA programming.
• Knowledge of VFDs, servos, and industrial communication networks.
• Ability to read and create electrical drawings.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to travel for commissioning work.

Qualification

• Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, or Instrumentation Engineering.
• Additional certification in PLC/Automation is an advantage.
