Job Title: Backend Developer & Systems Engineer

About the Role

We’re seeking a Backend Developer & Systems Engineer who thrives in the world of bare-metal and unmanaged infrastructure. While others rely on AWS etcc we rely on our own servers

In this role, you won’t just write code—you’ll architect our entire environment. With full root access, you’ll ensure our databases and servers are hardened, optimized, and lightning-fast.

Key Responsibilities

• Infrastructure Management: Provision, configure, and maintain dedicated and VPS servers on Hetzner (Robot/Cloud) and Contabo.
• Database Administration: Set up and manage high-availability database clusters (MySQL), including manual backups and replication.
• Server Security: Implement firewall rules (UFW/IPtables), SSH hardening, and regular security patching—security starts with you.
• Backend Development: Build robust APIs and services using [Node.js/Python.].
• Monitoring & Uptime: Deploy custom monitoring (Netdata) to ensure 24/7 stability across our self-managed fleet.

Required Skills & Experience

• Linux Expertise: Deep knowledge of Ubuntu, terminal proficiency, and systemd service management.
• Self-Managed Infrastructure: Proven experience with unmanaged VPS/dedicated servers
• Networking: Strong grasp of DNS, load balancing (Nginx), and SSL/TLS (Let’s Encrypt).
• Database Mastery: Hands-on experience with manual database setup, tuning, and point-in-time recovery.
• Docker Proficiency: Ability to containerize applications for consistency across environments.

Familiarity with with Supabase, Inertia Laravel, React Next Express ORM drizzle, websockets socketio, firebase cloudmessaging expo

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED3,000.00 - AED3,500.00 per month
