About the Role

We are seeking a talented Backend Developer (Messaging Systems) to help build and scale next-generation email and messaging infrastructure at Japan Digital Mail Services.

If you enjoy working on high-performance distributed systems, email delivery pipelines, and cloud-based messaging platforms, this is a chance to work on systems that handle millions of messages reliably and securely every day.

You will join a fast-moving engineering team focused on scalability, uptime, and performance optimization in a modern cloud environment.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems for email and messaging delivery
• Build scalable APIs and microservices for messaging infrastructure
• Optimize system performance, latency, and throughput
• Work with distributed systems, queues, and event-driven architecture
• Ensure high reliability, security, and deliverability of email systems
• Collaborate with DevOps and frontend teams to improve platform performance
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term fixes
• Contribute to architecture decisions and system design discussions

What We’re Looking For

• Strong experience in backend development (Java, Go, Python, or Node.js)
• Experience with messaging systems (SMTP, Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar)
• Knowledge of distributed systems and cloud architecture
• Experience with APIs, microservices, and RESTful services
• Understanding of databases (SQL and/or NoSQL)
• Problem-solving mindset and strong debugging skills
• Ability to work in a collaborative engineering environment

Nice to have:

• Experience with email delivery systems or SaaS platforms
• Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Knowledge of system observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
