Job Title : Backend Engineer - Java
Location : Hartford, CT (Onsite – Hybrid)
Job Description
Responsibilities
- Design develop and maintain scalable serverside applications using technologies such as Nodejs Python and Java
- Build and optimize RESTful and GraphQL APIs to support frontend applications and thirdparty integrations
- Develop eventdriven services in distributed environments
- Work with mediumtolarge scale web development using advanced distributed technologies to process store and quickly retrieve large volumes of data
- Implement and maintain data models and schemas using SQL Server PostgreSQL MySQL and NoSQL databases like MongoDB Redis or Snowflake
- Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction transformation and analysis
- Collaborate with frontend developers DevOps teams and product managers to deliver endtoend solutions
- Contribute to all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle SDLC including design development testing deployment and support
- Develop and maintain unit integration and system tests to ensure application reliability and support CICD pipelines
- Use Git for version control and follow established branching and deployment workflows
- Coordinate application deployments and support the master release process
- Write clean modular and referenceable code with a focus on maintainability and performance
- Embrace an automationfirst mindset contributing to CICD pipelines using tools like Jenkins Terraform and GitHub
- Monitor and troubleshoot production systems ensuring high availability and performance
- Participate in code reviews and agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement of development practices
- Apply BDDTDD methodologies to ensure code quality and system reliability
- Champion simplicity scalability and data quality through proactive monitoring and testing
- Engage directly with business stakeholders to clarify requirements and deliver impactful solutions with minimal overhead
Requirements
- 3-5 years of professional experience in backend development within agile teams
- 3-5 years of experience designing and developing Restful APIs experience with GraphQL is a plus
- 2 years of hands on Nodejs with additional experience in Python and Java
- 2 years of experience with SQL and NoSQL databases including schema design and performance optimization
- 2 years of handson experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS
- Familiarity with eventdriven architectures distributed systems and data orchestration
- Experience with CICD tools such as Jenkins Terraform and GitHub
- Background in BDD and TDD development methodologies
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years experience with Pyspark or Python
- Familiarity with Angular or other frontend frameworks is a plus
- Knowledge of financial services or other regulated industries
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field or equivalent practical experience

Benefits
Compensation range: $90,000.00 to $100,000.00 per year
