About Us

Gillman Capone LLC is a growing, systems-driven bankruptcy law firm representing individuals and businesses in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 matters throughout New Jersey. For over 30 years, we have built a reputation for delivering high-quality legal representation with a strong focus on efficiency, responsiveness, and client results.

Our firm operates on a structured, deadline-driven model designed to move cases from intake to filing efficiently. We prioritize accountability, proactive communication, and maintaining control of the case process to ensure our clients receive timely bankruptcy protection.

About the Role

This is a hands-on role for an experienced bankruptcy paralegal who can take ownership of cases and drive them forward.

You will be responsible for managing your own caseload, ensuring steady progress from intake through filing and discharge. This is not a passive support role—success in this position requires organization, urgency, and the ability to proactively manage both clients and case timelines.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in ownership of their work, and is comfortable enforcing deadlines and maintaining structure in the client relationship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and file bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and related documents
  • Manage cases from intake through discharge with a high level of ownership
  • Communicate directly with clients to obtain financial information and required documentation
  • Drive cases toward filing by actively managing timelines and follow-ups
  • Enforce deadlines and prevent file stagnation through consistent communication
  • Draft correspondence and pleadings for attorney review
  • Monitor court deadlines and ensure compliance with all filing requirements
  • Coordinate with trustees, creditors, and court personnel
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in case management systems
  • Identify stalled files and proactively escalate issues when necessary

What Success Looks Like in This Role

  • Cases move efficiently from intake to filing without unnecessary delays
  • Clients remain responsive because expectations are clearly communicated and enforced
  • Deadlines are tracked and consistently met
  • Files do not stagnate due to lack of follow-up
  • The paralegal takes full ownership of their caseload and drives progress daily

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of bankruptcy paralegal experience required
  • Strong knowledge of Chapter 7, 11, and/or 13 procedures
  • Experience with CM/ECF filing systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management software

In addition, the ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to manage a high-volume caseload with competing deadlines
  • Strong sense of urgency and ownership over assigned files
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort communicating directly with clients and maintaining control of case progress
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to identify and resolve issues independently
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Medical benefits and 401(k)
  • Bonus opportunities tied to performance and efficiency
