Barista

About the Job:

We are searching for an engaging, courteous barista who is passionate about beverage preparation and education to work in our Oakland cafe. The barista will greet guests, answer questions regarding the menu, take orders, prepare and serve drinks. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a clean and stocked workspace, updating display signage, and committing to expanding your beverage knowledge in order to create quality and creative drinks.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the quality of the coffee served, both drip and espresso
• Able to properly steam micro foam and do basic latte
• Ensures a fully stocked and clean workspace
• Regularly lifts 20+ lbs. or more
• Counting inventory
• FIFO products to maintain freshness quality
• Can comfortably explain the different chai and other beverages available, while able to make drink recommendations
• Prep seasonal syrups, chocolate, and other ingredients for drink specials
• Experiment and help R&D potential new drink specials
• Stock and maintain ready to drink (RTD) fridge

Qualifications:

• Have a passion for coffee and chai
• 2+ Years customer service experience
• Values and strives for quality service
• Has strong interpersonal communication skills
• Adhere to food safety regulations for quality control
• Works well in a team setting
• Able to calmly multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Punctual
• Maintains good hygiene
• Available to work Monday-Friday
• Able to pass a background check
