Barista/Supervisor

The Supervisor is a highly proficient barista who provides impactful guest service in the cafe while being the front line of the leadership team. Assist the General Manager with store operations. Lead by example providing warm service to our guests, and assisting in creating a welcoming and safe work environment inspired by our “Feel At Home” motto. Supervisors possess a high sense of responsibility, urgency, quality, and integrity.

PEOPLE & CULTURE

  • Assist the General Manager with training team members on cafe workflow.
  • Assist in recruiting and interviewing potential team members.
  • Communicate proactively, professionally, and positively with the team and guests.
  • First in line to assist management in filling schedule gaps.
  • Coaches team to meet and exceed beverage and food service standards, perform well, and respectful engagement with our team.
  • Level headed and solution oriented when taking the lead in difficult situations.

BEVERAGE QUALITY

  • Consistently reviews updates to menu offerings.
  • Seeks opportunities to engage team members and discuss their coffee knowledge.
  • Attends weekly meetings concerning operational strategy for excellence and efficiency.
  • Attends monthly meetings concerning menu changes.
  • Consistently ensure teams meet and exceed drink standards while serving beverages in a timely manner.
  • Coach baristas to improve drink preparation skills.
  • Work with the General Manager, to achieve quality control from a technical perspective on an as-needed basis.

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Follow all state and local food safety standards.
  • Ensure that all safety protocols are followed.
  • Ensure safety, harassment, injuries or any other issues brought to your attention are escalated to the General Manager and addressed immediately.
  • Maintain and upkeep weekly and monthly deep cleaning schedules.
  • Actively identify any safety hazards and work with leadership to rectify them.
  • Maintain food service health certificates and employ and ensure they are in practice while on site.

HOSPITALITY

  • Foster an environment that is passionate about hospitality.
  • Educate and mentor baristas so they understand the Coffee Fellows mission and culture.
  • Build relationships with guests and make them Feel at Home by communicating warmly and authentically.
  • Seek opportunities to engage with guests.
  • Deliver timely, professional, and knowledgeable service.
  • Exceed guest expectations.
  • Have a positive impact on our guests and provide a positive experience.

BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

  • While on shift, the supervisor is expected to take the lead on customer issues in the event the barista is unable to defuse the situation, and escalate to leadership as necessary.
  • Create opening and closing notes for each shift.
  • Monitor the timely delivery of goods and services.
  • Merchandise retail products in accordance with Coffee Fellows standards.
  • Ability to perform all POS functions including opening and closing procedures, comps, and voids. Work collaboratively with the General Manager to identify areas of opportunities and gaps for baristas in training.
  • Supervisors are expected to proactively solve problems in the absence of their manager.

Job Type: Full-time
