Job Summary
The Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to members and guests in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner. This role represents Butterfield Country Club at all times and is expected to provide an exceptional bar and dining experience that reflects the Club’s high standards of service. The Bartender ensures that all Club policies, safety regulations, and responsible service practices are followed while maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar environment.
Reports To: Beverage Manager and/or Assistant Clubhouse Manager
(Also works closely with Food & Beverage Leadership)
Essential Functions
- Greet and engage members and guests in a friendly, professional manner.
- Prepare, mix, and serve beverages according to Club recipes and service standards.
- Provide bar service for Club banquets, weddings, golf outings, and special events.
- Check identification to verify legal age requirements for alcohol service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, including glassware, utensils, and equipment.
- Set up, stock, and break down bar stations daily; monitor inventory and communicate needs to management.
- Provide input on seasonal beverage menus, signature cocktails, and wine/beer features in collaboration with the Beverage Manager and Food & Beverage leadership.
- Assist Beverage Manager with monthly beverage inventories and requisitions.
- Process drink and food orders accurately using the POS system.
- Maintain proper stock levels and rotate products to ensure freshness.
- Maintain knowledge of beverage selections, daily specials, and featured items.
- Follow all federal, state, and Club regulations regarding responsible alcohol service.
- Wash, polish, and store glassware and bar tools during and after service.
- Support team members and provide secondary wait staff support when needed.
- Report member feedback, concerns, and incidents promptly to management.
- Adhere to all opening, closing, and side work duties as assigned.
- Be able to lock and secure all doors throughout the club.
- Maintain flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and Club events as scheduled.
- Assist in other assignments not included in Duties & Responsibilities as directed by management to support overall Club operations.
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- 2+ years bartending experience required; private club or fine dining experience strongly preferred.
- BASSET and Food Handler certifications required (Club may provide course if needed).
- Strong knowledge of cocktails, wines, beers, and spirits; advanced mixology skills a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on member service.
- Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motions.
- May be required to carry and balance loaded trays.
Uniform & Appearance Standards
- Uniform provided by the Club must be clean and pressed at all times.
- Shoes must be closed-toe, slip-resistant, and in good repair.
- Personal appearance must reflect the professionalism and conservative standards of the Club.
Pay: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour
