BAS Manager
Job Function
The Business Advisory Services Manager has shared responsibility for the overall operation of the Firm’s Business Advisory Services department from a staff management, project service and delivery perspective.
Professional Responsibilities
- Reports departmental performance to management and offers suggestions about department strategy and resource utilization
- Determine and suggest new processes to help efficiency
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Serves as departmental role model by adopting CDH core values and the Firm’s Five Star philosophy specifically in the areas of providing outstanding service to existing and potential clients; communicating effectively with team members and fostering a spirit of teamwork and continuous improvement
- Hires, supervises, trains, mentors and develops all levels of department staff
- Participates in firm-wide leadership activities including monthly and annual staff meetings, performance meetings, recruitment activities and other duties necessary to advance departmental and firm initiatives
- Involved with engagement budgeting, delegating and monitoring workloads, along with providing training and feedback
- Informs principal-in-charge of any potential issues and pro-actively attempts to resolve any conflicts
- Strong project management and organization skills to oversee the engagement progress
- Leads, manages and supervises the execution of multiple engagements by:
- Serving as the liaison with the clients and CDH by maintaining relationships with clients to help ensure the information flow from the client to the team is efficient
- Reviewing financial statement reports, general ledger maintenance and bank reconciliations prepared by department
- Assisting and reviewing client financial transactions records
- Compiling and reviewing financial reports for client management, such as cash revenue and expenditure analysis, accounts payable and receivable
- Reviewing the maintenance of cash, accounts receivable and accounts payable, inventory ledgers and other full-scare bookkeeping responsibilities
- Reviewing financial calculations, such as amounts due, interest charges, balances, discounts, equity, and principal
- Assisting clients and team with utilization of accounting software
- Reporting organization’s finances to client’s management, and offering suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts
- Complies with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations
- Possesses knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data
- Understands the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
- Ability to determine how a client’s system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes
- Frequently works with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, ProFx, QuickBooks, Sage 50, Sage Intact and Bill.com
- Proficient with Excel, Word, and ability to learn and train/supervise others on data extraction and other softwares used

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field
- Current CPA license preferred
- 5+ years of public accounting experience or 8+ years of industry experience
- Accounting software experience
- Federal and state tax knowledge a plus
- Native and/or Business level Japanese language skill a plus
- Ability and willingness to travel to clients occasionally within the Firm’s market area
