Role Overview

Alpha Health Services is seeking a Behavior Support Specialist to provide clinical expertise to individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism. This role focuses on conducting functional assessments and developing strategies that promote positive change and functional skill acquisition. Based out of our Northampton County office, you will support individuals and their teams across Southeastern PA, Northeastern PA, and the Lehigh Valley.

Required Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet one of the following educational or professional tracks AND possess the required experience:

1. Educational/Professional Requirements (Must meet one):

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Special Education, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, or Gerontology.
  • Pennsylvania Licensure as a Psychologist, Professional Counselor (LPC), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA).

2. Mandatory Experience:

  • At least two (2) years of experience working directly with individuals with an intellectual disability and/or autism.

3. Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel throughout the service region.
  • Successful completion of PA Criminal Record Check, FBI Fingerprinting, and Child Abuse Clearances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA): Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify the purpose of challenging behaviors and environmental triggers.
  • Behavior Support Plan (BSP) Development: Design evidence-based support plans that include positive reinforcement strategies and lead to the development of adaptive skills.
  • Clinical Training: Provide direct instruction to families, caregivers, and staff on the implementation of behavioral strategies and the use of the BSP.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Monitor progress through consistent data review and adjust interventions to ensure the individual’s goals are being met.
  • Collaboration: Attend team meetings and work closely with support coordinators and families to ensure a holistic approach to care.
