BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

  • The Benefits Coordinator will assist in the daily functions of the Employee Relations department to help carry out the DBU mission.
  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment and questions, verify insurance billing and payroll deductions, and ensure compliance with required benefits laws and regulations.
  • Providing support moving toward the DBU strategic plan.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 1 year of Human Resources experience required
  • Attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the onboarding process by assisting with New Employee Orientation
  • Maintain and update benefits materials to ensure accuracy for new/current employees.
  • Process monthly benefit plan payments, submittals, journal entries and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Assist in administering employee benefit programs, including medcal, dental, vision, life insurance and health savings account
  • Stay informed on basic benefit regulations and tends; escalate compliance concerns as needed
  • Proof benefit deductions on each payroll and transmit HSA contributions after each payroll.
  • Assist with ACA compliance reporting and other regulatory documentation under supervision
  • Maintain organized records and support reporting needs for IPEDS, NDT, 990 and similar filings
  • Help prepare materials and logistics for the annual Open Enrollment process
  • Coordinate with insurance carriers and broker to resolve basic administrative issues
  • Monitor weekly data feeds to insurance carriers and verify coverage accuracy
  • Support the Employee Relations team in preparing benefits communications and distributing required documents or notices
  • Process routine benefits transaction such as enrollments, life status changes, and eligibility update in the HRIS
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits plan, enrollment procedures and general questions
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time position with regular office hours between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday.

WORK LOCATION:

This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211
