Starting Rate: $42,911.50 - $58,445.01 annually, based on qualifications and experience
Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
In this role, you will:
- Assist all employees, retirees, and their dependents with inquiries and concerns related to City benefits and retirement matters.
- Manage and monitor employee leaves such as FMLA, medical, parental, personal, and LTD, ensuring compliance through communication with employees, supervisors, and third-party administrators.
- Serve as the City’s liaison for IMRF, handling employee enrollments, changes, retirements, and related reporting. Manage pension deductions and coordinate with agencies on IMRF, Police, and Fire pension matters.
- Manage Worker’s Compensation claims, coordinate with insurance carriers and healthcare providers, support return-to-work efforts, and ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
- Assist in the administration of retirement benefits by managing payroll deductions, pension codes, and refunds, and auditing benefit payments for employees and retirees.
- Administer COBRA and ensure departing employees’ benefits are terminated or converted appropriately. Disseminated required notices to employees and retirees concerning benefits.
Qualifications:
This position requires knowledge, skills and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college with courses in business administration, public administration, human resources, finance, or a related field, and three years of experience in an insurance related or group benefits functional area; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference for employment in all positions with the city shall be given to applicants who are full-time city residents.
