Bid Writer/Technical Proposal Writer

Job Title: Bid Writer/Technical Proposal Writer
Reports to: Business Manager
Location: Venice, Florida (Remote or hybrid work is not available)
Compensation: Will be determined on experience and skill level.

Position Responsibilities
The Bid Writer prepares high-quality tender submissions by translating technical engineering solutions into clear, persuasive proposals (RFP/ITT) that address client requirements and help secure new infrastructure contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tender Production: Analyze ITT (Invitation to Tender) documents, develop response plans, and write tailored, client-focused responses to maximize evaluation scores.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with subject matter experts, including engineers, project managers, and cost estimators, to collect information, technical data, and method statements.
  • Content Management: Maintain and update a central bid library containing previous projects, company case studies, standard CVs, and technical responses.
  • Editing and Proofreading: Review, edit, and revise content from multiple contributors to ensure a consistent, professional, and persuasive tone.
  • Compliance: Ensure all submissions are compliant with tender specifications, including formatting, word counts, and required documentation.
  • Document Design: Create visually engaging proposals using diagrams, maps, and case studies to showcase engineering expertise.
  • Deadline Management: Submit high-quality bid documents within strict deadlines.
  • Monitoring: Track civil engineering marketing initiatives and identify new business opportunities. Search for projects on platforms such as DemandStar. Monitor the firm’s position in public-sector markets and stay informed about upcoming projects.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Essential: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, or a relevant Civil Engineering/Technical field.
  • Essential: 3-5+ years of proven bid writing or proposal writing experience, preferably within the construction, infrastructure, or civil engineering sector.
  • Essential: Excellent written English skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear, persuasive copy.
  • Highly Desirable: Familiarity with civil engineering concepts (e.g., earthworks, structures, highways, drainage).
  • Highly Desirable: Experience with Adobe InDesign and Acrobat for document production.

Required Skills

  • Technical Writing: Excellent grammar and drafting skills.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • IT Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

This is a full-time, in-office position with flexible hours.
