Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Workers’ Compensation Case Manager / Hearing Representative to join our legal team. This role requires significant knowledge of California workers’ compensation practice and procedure, along with the ability to manage cases independently, prepare for hearings, and communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and medical providers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of workers’ compensation matters from intake through resolution
  • Use EAMS (Electronic Adjudication Management System) for filing, calendaring, and case monitoring
  • Draft correspondence, including persuasive letters to defendants and carriers
  • Request and track QME panels; manage the medical-legal evaluation process
  • Identify and analyze case issues, including treatment disputes and disability exposure
  • Prepare hearing binders; assist attorneys with case preparation (MSCs and trials)
  • Communicate with clients regarding case status, treatment, and benefits
  • Maintain deadlines and compliance with statutory/regulatory timelines
  • Flag issues requiring attorney review

Qualifications

  • Required: 3–5 years of experience in CA workers’ compensation case management or as a hearing representative
  • Strong understanding of CA Labor Code, Title 8 CCR regulations, and WCAB procedures
  • Proficiency with EAMS; experience handling QME/AME disputes
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) required – written and verbal
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Client-focused team player

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay: $25 – $32/hour (depending on experience)
  • Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours/week
  • Location: On-site in downtown Oakland; option to work remotely 1 day per week after 6 months
  • Benefits: Health insurance and 401(k)
