Billing & Documentation Audit Specialist (Part-Time)

Job Summary

We are seeking a meticulous and highly organized Billing & Documentation Audit Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis. In this role, you will serve as the final line of defense for data integrity, ensuring that client intake records and billing units are accurate, compliant, and ready for submission to the finance department for final billing.

This position is ideal for a candidate who enjoys "solving the puzzle" of complex records and thrives in a role that balances deep analytical work with collaborative problem-solving across various departments.

Responsibilities

  • Quality Assurance & Auditing: Perform comprehensive reviews of client intake records to ensure all demographic, clinical, and insurance information is complete and accurate.
  • Billing Validation: Audit billing units generated by other departments to verify they align with documented services and payor requirements.
  • Error Correction: Directly correct identified errors within the system or coordinate with originating departments to ensure corrections are made at the source.
  • Inter-Departmental Liaison: Act as a primary point of contact for department managers and employees to resolve documentation discrepancies and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate professionally with clients, case managers, and insurance companies to clarify information or resolve billing inquiries.
  • Reporting: Maintain logs of common errors to help identify training needs across the organization.

Requirements

  • Experience: Prior experience in billing, records auditing, or revenue cycle management is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Excel, or billing platforms.
  • Attention to Detail: An eagle eye for inconsistencies and a commitment to 100% accuracy.
  • Organizational Skills: The ability to manage a high volume of records and prioritize tasks effectively within a 3-day work week.
  • Interpersonal Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with everyone from case managers, insurance companies to internal leadership.

Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
