Billing Engineer

A Billing Engineer manages project costing, estimation, and billing processes to ensure accurate invoices, budget adherence, and timely payments for construction projects. Their responsibilities include preparing Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and payment bills, verifying contractor work through site visits and measurement books, reconciling materials, and resolving billing discrepancies. Key skills for this role are a Civil Engineering degree, proficiency in software like MS Excel and AutoCAD, strong analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills. Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare cost estimates, calculate rates, and manage the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for construction materials and work.
  • Billing & Invoicing: Create, submit, and verify accurate progress and final bills for projects, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Site Verification: Conduct site visits to inspect and verify work done against architectural plans and specifications, often using measurement books.
  • Reconciliation & Reporting: Reconcile material consumption, track project expenses against the budget, and prepare various financial and billing reports.
  • Discrepancy Resolution: Identify and resolve any billing discrepancies or issues that arise with clients or contractors.
  • Documentation & Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous records of all billing-related activities, documents, and progress.
  • Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, architects, and contractors to gather the necessary information for billing.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: A degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field is typically required.
  • Technical Skills:
  • MS Excel proficiency for data analysis and record-keeping.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD for drawing interpretation.
  • Familiarity with ERP and other billing software.
  • Understanding of relevant Indian Standard (IS) codes for measurement and quality assurance.
  • Soft Skills:
