The Big Picture:
The BIM Electrical Specialist will play a key role in shaping Illumine-i’s Building Information Modeling (BIM) delivery for MEP projects, with a specialized focus on Electrical Systems Design and Coordination. You will lead the creation of intelligent, data-rich BIM models that bring precision, performance, and integration to every stage of a project. This role calls for a hands-on professional who combines deep technical expertise with a collaborative mindset — driving both quality and innovation across multidisciplinary project environments.
What you can expect as a BIM Specialist (Electrical) at Illumine-i?
Electrical Modeling and Detailing:
  • You’ll lead the development of detailed Electrical BIM models, adhering to project standards, client requirements, and industry best practices.
  • You’ll utilize Revit Electrical, Navisworks, and AutoCAD to model and document electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, grounding, cable routing, and low-voltage systems.
  • You’ll ensure all models are built to the required Level of Detail (LOD 300–500) and support project deliverables from design through construction.
Design Collaboration and Integration:
  • You’ll collaborate with architects, structural, and mechanical teams to ensure accurate integration of electrical systems within the overall building model.
  • You’ll review electrical design drawings and specifications to identify inconsistencies, improve constructability, and support coordinated model development.
  • You’ll participate in design coordination meetings, offering insights that enhance technical alignment and project efficiency.
Quality Assurance and Coordination:
  • You’ll be responsible for clash detection, model verification, and issue resolution using coordination tools such as Navisworks.
  • You’ll maintain BIM model accuracy and consistency through established quality control protocols and naming standards.
  • You’ll drive proactive issue identification and resolution to ensure all electrical systems are properly coordinated with other building services.
Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
  • You’ll present electrical models and visualizations to internal and external stakeholders, facilitating clarity and informed decision-making.
  • You’ll maintain continuous communication with project engineers, clients, and site teams to address design and modeling challenges.
  • You’ll act as a technical point of contact for all BIM Electrical deliverables, ensuring smooth collaboration across all stages of the project.
Strategic Contribution and Professional Development:
  • You’ll contribute to workflow automation and process innovation by developing Dynamo scripts or Revit templates that enhance modeling efficiency.
  • You’ll stay current with emerging BIM technologies, standards, and digital construction trends to continuously improve modeling accuracy and productivity.
  • You’ll mentor junior team members and support a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence within the BIM team.
Essential Qualifications include:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 4-7 years of proven experience in Electrical BIM modeling and coordination within the AEC industry.
  • Strong expertise in Revit (Electrical discipline), Navisworks, Dynamo (Automation), and AutoCAD.
  • Proven ability to create and manage Electrical BIM models up to LOD 500, including distribution boards, lighting layouts, and cable containment.
  • Deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, load distribution, lighting design, and relevant codes and standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of translating complex technical information clearly.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, fostering seamless teamwork across disciplines and stakeholders.

Great to Have:
  • Experience in Revit API, Dynamo scripting, or BIM automation tools.
  • Knowledge of energy modeling, load analysis, and sustainable design principles.
  • Experience in electrical family creation, template setup, and library management.
  • A passion for digital transformation and innovation within the electrical design and construction domain.
