BIM/VDC Project Manager

W.G. Yates & Sons Construction Company has one opening available for the position of BIM/VDC Project Manager with the following qualifications:

Requires U.S. Bachelor’s or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural Engineering, or related field. Also requires two years of experience as a VDC Manager or related occupation in: managing BIM/VDC technology and processes for preconstruction and construction phases of multimillion-dollar residential and commercial projects; developing and managing the BIM execution plan and project-specific VDC implementation strategy; developing solutions with project stakeholders by performing model-based design and constructability reviews, clash detection, and visualization; and overseeing BIM coordination meetings with designers, trades, and suppliers. Periodic relocation to unanticipated client construction sites anywhere in the U.S. every 9 to 24 months. Background check and drug test required.

Job duties for the position include:
Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing the integration of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) technology for preconstruction and construction phases of large-scale multimillion-dollar projects. Prepare construction plans and baseline schedules using BIM and VDC planning tools, project management, and resource planning software. Manage BIM content development, maintenance procedures, and approvals to ensure consistency and compliance with project standards. Conduct model-based civil engineering analysis, including quantity takeoffs, clash detection, structural feasibility assessments, and 4D scheduling to optimize project timelines and resource allocation. Coordinate and oversee the development and maintenance of 3D models and clash detection processes, ensuring seamless integration of structural, geotechnical, and mechanical systems. Collaborate with design teams and trade contractors to update and refine models, ensuring they remain current, clash-free, and compliant with design specifications, codes, and safety regulations. Develop and maintain federated models to improve construction efficiency and mitigate risks through interdisciplinary coordination. Prepare engineering reports and project status updates related to BIM/VDC metrics, providing stakeholders with insights into project progress, design challenges, and risk management. Oversee model management to maintain As-Built accuracy for final project turnover to clients and regulatory authorities. Implement and utilize augmented reality tools to verify structural integrity, construction quality, and adherence to design specifications.
