Bioanalytical LC-MS Scientist (Biomarker Assay Support)

Summary

Spectrix Analytical Services, LLC is seeking a qualified Bioanalytical Bench Scientist to join a bioanalytical mass spectrometry group within the Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics, and Metabolism (PDM) department at our client’s site in Andover, MA.

This lab-based role focuses on supporting LC-MS-based bioanalytical activities and method development for biomarker and biomeasure analysis across a diverse portfolio. Responsibilities include LC-MS assay development for protein/peptide biomarkers, study sample analysis, data reporting, and LC-MS instrument operation and maintenance. We are looking for a scientist who is passionate about learning and eager to apply new skills to meet evolving project needs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare biological samples (serum/plasma/tissues) for LC-MS analysis, including multi-step extraction and purification workflows
• Perform precise liquid handling using Eppendorf Repeater and single-channel pipettes (2–1000 µL), especially in 96-well plate formats.
• Collaborate on experimental design focused on bioanalytical LC-MS quantitative assays for biomarkers, and execution of analytical experiments and method development as needed
• Troubleshoot assay performance and resolve technical issues as they arise
• Interpret, document, and communicate experimental results clearly and professionally.
• Maintain high quality record in electronic lab notebook
• Collaborate effectively within a team environment to meet project timelines and quality standards

Job Expectations

• On-site work required Monday through Friday during core business hours (9:00 AM – 3:00 PM)
• Communicate clearly and professionally, both orally and in writing.
• Successfully execute complex bioanalytical procedures, including sample preparation, instrument operation and troubleshooting.

Qualifications

• BS (2+ years) or MS (1+ year) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, or a related field (PhD not required)
• Previous experience in successfully executing complex bioanalytical procedures and LC-MS assays is desired
• Preferred experience with LC-MS biological sample preparation involving multi-step isolation, purification, and concentration of analytes
• Familiarity with LC-MS instrumentation (Thermo/SciEx) and related software (e.g., Analyst, Xcalibur, Skyline)
• Strong data organization, analysis, and communication skills
• Team-oriented with a drive toward scientific independence
