Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) / Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA)

Position Summary

The BCBA Supervisor works with the Program Director and a team of other BCBAs, BCaBAs, QBAs, QASP-S, RBTs, ABATs and ABA Therapists to provide a range of applied behavior analytic (ABA) assessment and clinical services for children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders and related developmental disabilities. The Supervisor is responsible for observing, assessing, and supervising the activities and service delivery of Registered Behavior Technicians/ABATs.

Essential Qualifications

  • Current BCBA/BCaBA certification from the BACB. BCBA strongly preferred.
  • CDA licenseor eligibility to obtain this is necessary
  • Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis or in a CDA approved field (Psychology, Education, Special Education etc.)
  • Minimum 5 years' experience working with children or adults with Autism or related developmental disabilities
  • Strong knowledge and deep understanding of behavior analytic therapies; experienced in supervising and delivering these services
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English
  • Experience with staff training and supervision
  • Proficient in the use of DTT, ABA Program/Goal Development, and ABA Behavior Reduction and Skills Acquisition Procedures

Leadership

  • Create a positive, ethical, and respectful work environment by promoting BE’s mission, vision, and core values

Client management

  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments under supervision, gaining mastery of a variety of protocols (i.e. ABLLS, VB-MAPP, PEAK etc.)
  • Provide formal/informal supervision for clients and design & implement individualized goals, behavior intervention plans on that basis
  • Provide internal parent & staff training as may be required
  • Leads and supervises group and/or school readiness sessions, including curriculum management
  • Designs behavior support plans based on functional assessment data, addressing the function of the problem behavior.
  • Develops appropriate behavioral data collection systems and ensures data is collected at regular intervals to allow for the continual evaluation of behavior support plans and the achievement of individual goals and objectives
  • Train family members directly (i.e. in person with opportunities for questions, discussion, etc.) on the implementation of the behavior support plan
  • If the intervention has not produced substantial progress toward the intended goal, review potential barriers to implementation and/or change the behavior support plan if necessary

Staff management

  • Overall management of ABA staff and ensure service delivery as per BE’s standards
  • Develop & implement on-boarding processes for all new ABA staff and providing appropriate training to ensure they meet BE’s clinical standards
  • Provide quality checks of therapists in all environments (school/centre, as needed), monitor therapist adherence to policy and procedures; maintain appropriate written records
  • Trains and provides on-going support to behavior technicians
  • Supervise ABA Staff (including any RBTs/ABATs) and check that supervision logs are maintained as per BACB/QABA’s requirements and BE’s internal procedures
  • Regular reporting to the Program Director on intervention-related aspects; to the Operations team on client-related & financial aspects

Administration

  • Develop, implement, update & monitor treatment plans, maintenance lists, progress graphs, and program writing, on an ongoing basis
  • Maintain records and documentation in line with CDA audit standards
  • Has a high attention to Health and Safety and puts this as the first priority at all times and notifies the management team of any concerns
  • Brings problems, suggestions and personnel issues to the immediate attention of the management team

Other

  • Maintain current BCBA status by obtaining all required CEU’s as outlined by the BACB.
  • Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary support team of Speech therapists, Occupational therapists, school inclusion teams, LSAs as necessary for the client's progress
  • Participates in professional meetings or conferences deemed to be beneficial by BE
  • Adhere to the BACB Guidelines for Responsible conduct for Behavior Analysts
  • Maintain a monthly billable caseload of service hours as directed by the Clinical Director
