Bookkeeper

The Bookkeeper is responsible for completing technical work, both routine and special projects with minimal supervision, while coordinating with the team to ensure high-quality financial work is delivered and the client is supported.

Job Overview

As a Bookkeeper you will perform a variety of tasks, including recording monthly transactions, performing reconciliations, and communicating any questions, concerns or comments to the Bookkeeping and Operations Team. Additionally, Bookkeepers may perform special projects as assigned. You should be able to handle the completion of recurring and non-recurring tasks & projects and deliver high-quality work under limited supervision.

This role may include client-facing responsibilities. When you are a client’s primary point of contact, this involves completing the technical work and responding to or sending questions, requests, and information to the client on a regular basis.

Ultimately, you should be able to maintain positive and productive working relationships with clients and team members, deliver high quality work, and complete all assigned tasks and projects with a high degree of self-management and personal responsibility.


Work Responsibilities

Monthly Bookkeeping

  • Record all monthly transactions and journal entries
  • Reconcile accounts
  • Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, contractor payments, etc. in line with client's service agreement
  • Send questions and requests for the client to the Account Manager to send to the client or send to the client directly if client-facing
  • Prepare & send monthly reports in line with client's service agreement
  • Request W9s throughout the year to prepare for annual 1099 filing, as needed
  • Regular maintenance of client records, keeping client-specific process videos, client documents, passwords, and all other resources current to ensure the transferability of information


Special Projects

  • Receive information & training on the particular client & project scope
  • Perform project tasks within time frame allotted
  • Annual Bookkeeping tasks to complete Annual Financial Reports for tax filing


Requirements & Competencies

  • Must be motivated to learn & develop skills
  • Must be QBO ProAdvisor Certified
  • Prior experience with bookkeeping required
  • Prior experience in a client-facing role preferred
  • Ability to communicate positively and effectively with clients and team members
    • Strong skills in processing new information and asking clarifying questions
    • Strong skills in presenting information in a clear, concise, and helpful way
  • Strong sense of personal responsibility, proactively owning mistakes, and learning from them
  • Ability to self-manage, both time and responsibilities, so all work is being done well and on time

Job Types: Part-time, Full-time | Pay: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour

Education:
  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:
  • Accounting: 1+ year (Required)
  • Bookkeeping: 3+ years (Required)
  • Quickbooks Online: 3+ years (Required)

License/Certification:
  • Quickbooks Online ProAdvisor Level 1 Certification (Required)

Work Location: Remote only + U.S. based only
